Having just had my first baby, this is a question I’ve been asking other parents for months! Many said they’d never considered it before and it has been so rewarding to talk it through. My answer is I wish Thalia the ability for critical thought, but I’m a strong believer that if you think hard enough about anything, it will lead you to be kind, caring, loyal, etc. Not everyone agrees 😁

Great work capturing the feelings of parents! I've been contemplating similar thoughts recently after the birth of our second child.

Gottschalk's "Le Banjo" was introduced to me by my grandfather when I was young and remains a favorite. Gottschalk is a talented and perhaps underrated composer.

I'll admit I hadn't heard of Gottschalk before that concert. Just listened to Le Banjo. Awesome piece. This guy must have had enormous hands.

Great thoughts Miles! I too, have been thinking about this a lot lately—as my children are hitting different milestones in their life. Is what I am trying to teach them really working? What can I do to improve and reach each of their individual needs.

I like the list exercise. Jared and I will try this. I think I’ll even ask Mori (16) what she thinks about it. Thank you!! 🙏

Can't believe you have teenagers now! I did wonder as I wrote this if my perspective would be different with older kids. Knowing their personality better, what affects them, etc. Imagine that those individual needs are clearer, and the hopes you have for them are more specific than generalized.
